Hi friends and family,

I’m so excited about what VOOM! is doing in the East Augusta community. By now you’ve read what we’re about, now let me tell you a little about me.

I am Glynis (Cato) Key. My family moved to East Augusta when I was five-years old. In kindergarten, I attended Houghton Elementary. My first year of school was spent at Hornsby (the original) Elementary. Now, this is the age giveaway. Do you remember when Sand Bar Ferry Elementary (now Hornsby) was a junior high school? Well, I do! Once the construction of Sand Bar Ferry Junior High was complete, students were transferred, then it became an elementary school. It was there where I attended second grade.

I have fond memories of Sand Bar Ferry Elementary and Junior High School. I remember leaving junior high and being separated from my friends. If you recall, many of us were bused to Richmond Academy. That’s right, an ARC Musketeer Class of ‘80’. Even though some of my friends chose to attend Laney High School instead of Richmond, we remained friends in the community and spent time together in the neighborhood. Actually, my parents are still in the neighborhood, so my roots continue in East View, a.k.a. the Bottom.

I told you my story in hopes that you will remember me, and also to welcome you to our church. Wow, I married a Pastor! You must hear this man of God’s testimony. It speaks volume to God’s love and what He’s capable of doing in our lives. Charity begins at home and true love begins when you extend yourself to those that mean the most or have lost their way. We all have fallen short of God’s glory; I know I have. But thank God for his grace!

Again, I extend to you a heartfelt welcome to join us in worship and fellowship. Our services are based out of the East Augusta Community Center; the place where we played Ping-Pong, pool and just had fun. I assure you that you won’t be disappointed.

If you had enough of the old and need a new beginning, a freshness in God, see me Sunday! God bless and I look forward to seeing you again. I pray that all is well with you and yours.
